Discovery Time - Managing Self!

We had a great discovery time session today with Room 5.  Our focus was on the Key Competency Managing Self and we were working at sharing and taking turns as well as tidying away after ourselves.

We do Discovery Time on Friday afternoons and it is great way to develop some of the Key Competencies through activity based child directed learning.

A Big Blue Whale

Poetry books came home for the first time on Friday.  The children did a great job of their first poem of the year.  I hope you enjoyed reading it together over the weekend.  We will be learning a new poem each week and by the end of the year you will have a lovely book for poems.

We shared our poem with the other children in the Kiwi and Tui syndicate on Friday.

We did this great Whale Art which is now on our classroom walls..

Welcome Room 3 2013

It was lovely to meet all the children and many of the families on our first day of school today.

We have had a fun day getting to know each other a little and learning about some of the routines in our classroom.

We will be counting how many days we come to school until we reach our 100th day of learning.  This is a great way to practice our adding, improve our number knowledge as well as learning about place value.

We will celebrate our 100th day of school in style of course!!

We are going to drop a 10 cent in the jar each day, how much money are we going to have on 100th day?
