Well done children for a super show. You are stars!
Thanks to all the parents for supporting our school production. The children have worked hard learning the rhymes, sitting patiently and practicing, practicing, practicing.
We will be learning lots of nursery rhymes as we continue through the term. We might even try writing a few!!
We are a class of Year 1 children at Redwood School. We are part of the Kiwi Syndicate. Our teacher is Miss Gargan. We are excited to share our learning with you and hope you enjoy watching our progress this year.

Goodluck Miss Trethewey.
Sadly we said Goodbye to Miss Trethewey today.
Thanks for all the delicious food for our shared lunch today - it was a real treat.
We have had a great time with her and really enjoyed all the great things she contributed to our class.
We loved having her in our class and will miss her.

Dive into Reading
What a fun book week we have had. We were so proud to see the Rainbow Fish we made with our buddy class hanging in the library.
We enjoyed lots of fun activities in the library at lunchtimes, their was coloring activities, origami, reading with families, doodle art and the DVD of The Great White Man Eating Shark.
It was awesome to have Apirana Taylor come and tell stories to us, we loved his story about the Lolly Tree.
It was so nice to have so many families join us for lunch and to read in our library. Thanks for coming.
We did some amazing Paua art with Miss Trethewey and it is going to decorate our library. We used sand from Oriental Bay to make them very authentic.
We finished the week by MAKING A SPLASH and dressing to the theme.
What a fun week it has been!

Geometry
Today we had some fun in class creating a model using Maths equipment. We were using everyday language to describe our models and the location of objects on our models. The children used lots of clever descriptive words like at the top of, behind, under, in between, beside, in front of, next to.
On Fridays this term we will be adding to our vocab and working at giving simple directions.
