It's been a week of PURPLE in Room 3.
We have based our literacy programme around the book Harold and the Purple Crayon. It is a really neat book.
We made some predictions about what we thought Harold might draw before we read the book.
Then we drew pictures while Miss Gargan read the story.
We visualized what was happening.
After we had finished, we retold the story to a friend using our pictures to help us.
Then we finally got to see the pictures in the story!
We wrote our own stories of what we might draw if we had a magic purple crayon.
The children had some great ideas, they were very creative.
Our Discovery Time was based on this book this week too.
Our Key Competency was Relating To Others and we worked cooperatively in a group, with everyone participating and contributing to the mural we made. We had to figure out things like where the top of the picture would be, and what we would each draw.

When we had finished this activity we just had fun being creative with Purple!
We finished out the week doing some problem solving - Here's a problem for you.....
What will you draw?
Harold finds a cat on his lawn. He doesn't know whom the cat belongs to. What can Harold draw?
